The design of the program is based on the belief that we mainly learn from reflecting on our experiences. Furthermore, we learn most when those experiences are directly relevant to our personal situations and circumstances. Accordingly, the GCA program involves significant pre-work in the form of questionnaires, assessments, and assignments that help us customize the onsite curriculum with relevant case-in-point examples from your pre-work and onsite experiences that deepen the learning. As a result, there isn’t a set agenda of sessions and times, but rather a well-designed flow that is adapted to the needs of the participants in each program. GCA is a highly experiential and immersive executive leadership program.
Much of the pre-work and the early part of the program focuses on being brutally honest about your current reality. Through personal reflection, self-disclosure, and feedback from the observations of others, you will confront the true state of your organization, your career, your work relationships, and your personal life. As a result, you will have a deep understanding of yourself from a variety of perspectives that will reveal your strengths, values, and purpose as well as your weaknesses and self-limiting beliefs and assumptions.
In the process of confronting your current reality, you will uncover the past experiences and resulting stories, behaviors, mental models, and world views that have gone into creating your current reality. To the extent that any of those are holding you back - or just no longer serving you well - you will be guided through a process of dissecting, redirecting, and transforming from them as appropriate.
With clarity around your current reality and insights into your strengths, values, and purpose in life, you will be guided through various customized exercises and reflections that will enable you to craft a vision of a new, better, and more compelling reality for the future of your organization, career, and personal life.
The lectures and exercises will engage you with the technical tools to help you think more deeply and clearly about your future reality and how to shape it. We will go deep into such topics as:
Adapting in the face of constant disruption using strategy, innovation, and reinvention to assure your survival and growth.
Framing and reframing issues, solving problems, and making decisions in today’s complex, competitive, and rapidly changing world.
Communicating to inform and inspire as well as understanding the role of political intelligence to assert, negotiate with and react to power and authority.
Dealing with interpersonal and organizational conflict.
Building your organization’s culture of resilience.
The program will close with each participant illustrating what they have gleaned from the program by presenting their plans for how they will mobilize themselves, others, and the necessary resources to realize their desired future reality and the legacy they intend to leave behind.
Ultimately, the program is designed to help you gain clarity around your current reality, shape the future reality that you seek, and get you from where you are to where you want to be. It takes courage to face the truth about your current reality; strength to assume responsibility for imagining a better reality for the future for your organization, yourself, and those around you; and leadership to mobilize yourself, others, and the necessary resources to realize the potential of that future.
Not everyone is prepared or inclined to go to the depths that this program will take you. Those who are will be richly rewarded personally and professionally!
